Do you have something interesting, iconic or memorable to share with the UniSA community?
Launching in late March 2025, the UniSA Time Capsule is an invitation to staff, students, alumni, and the broader University community, to collectively curate and preserve our University’s past, for the future.
Filled with curated photos, memorabilia, curios and artifacts from the 34 unstoppable years of UniSA, and those institutions that came before, the collection will celebrate UniSA’s achievements, history and culture across the sweep of its teaching, learning, research, community activity and campus life.
A program of activity throughout 2025 will provide opportunities for members of the UniSA community to upload their materials to the Time Capsule and for us to share. Keep an eye on our socials and e-news for details.
Sponsored by the Chancellor, John Hill, and guided by a steering committee chaired by Distinguished Professor Marnie Hughes-Warrington AO, the project will run throughout 2025 before being archived for posterity. So start thinking about what you can contribute to celebrate and acknowledge our community.
This is a people’s history. The Time Capsule is not a formal history of the University, nor is it intended to be a collection point for formal University records or documents, research papers and organisational or administrative material.
Visitors to the site are welcome to browse the collection, but we encourage everyone upload their moment. Before you can upload your submission, you will be asked to register and provide your details along with a description of the item and what it means to you. Please add keywords relevant to the content (time, place, etc) so that others can easily search and enjoy your content.
You will be asked to consent to our Terms and Conditions, and then, once reviewed by our volunteer moderators, your content should be live within a few days. You can expedite the process by filling in as many of the submission fields as possible.
What we can share:
- Images –photo, map, flyer, object, newspaper clipping
- Video – advertisement, recollection
- Audio – oral history
- Documents – article, correspondence, newsletter
What we can’t share:
- Hyperlinks to unisa.edu.au – these will no longer operate when the website is taken offline in 2026
- Extensive documents – file size limited to 1GB per asset
- Large image galleries – max 10 images and file size limited to 1GB per asset
- Long format video/audio – file size limited to 1GB per asset
- AI-generated content
- Commercial material

As the site builds, we can all enjoy the opportunity to reminisce and pay tribute to all that has brought UniSA to this point. It is envisaged that on completion of the project, this material will be archived, potentially as a resource for future researchers.
Once the site is live, we encourage you to visit regularly to view the most recent additions to the collection, and share your moments on your socials.
