Honorary doctorates for Barnes and Takei
Legendary actor George Takei and rock icon Jimmy Barnes sprinkled a little stardust on our graduation ceremonies at Pridham Hall in September.
Takei and Barnes joined philanthropist Andrew Pridham and artist Geoff Wilson in receiving honorary doctorates, with coverage of Jimmy’s acceptance featuring on Channel 7 and Channel 9 news, as well as receiving a strong response on social media. Read more here.
World premiere of Soda Jerk’s Hello Dankness
Fans of Australian-born, Brooklyn-based duo Soda Jerk were given the opportunity to see the world premiere of their new feature film, Hello Dankness, when it launched at Samstag Museum of Art in October.
Hello Dankness, commissioned by Samstag in partnership with the Adelaide Film Festival, opened as part of a concise survey exhibition of Soda Jerk’s 20-year oeuvre, titled Soda Jerk: Open Sauce.
The film is screening at Samstag at 3.30pm daily for the duration of the exhibition, which runs until Friday 16 December.
