Research integrity advisors
Research Integrity Advisors (RIAs) promote the responsible conduct of research, and contribute to the development and maintenance of a University-wide culture of research integrity, based on the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research (the Code) and its supporting Guides (downloadable from the Code webpage).
RIAs act as a key point of contact for staff and students who are seeking advice regarding the responsible conduct of research, and the University's procedures for making complaints concerning potential breaches of the Code and (in the most serious cases) research misconduct. However, RIAs will not be involved in the investigation of a complaint regarding a potential Code breach.
Staff and students are able to seek advice from any RIA, even if they are from a different campus.
Current RIAs for the University:
City West campus
Associate Professor Anne Souvertjis
City East Campus
Associate Professor David Foster
Magill Campus
Dr Matthew Rofe
Mawson Lakes Campus
Professor Allison Cowin
Following an initiative of the Research Leadership Committee, the University is currently in the process of increasing the number of RIAs from four to seven, such that there will be one RIA in each of the seven Academic Units. As campus consolidation progresses, this will ensure widespread support for researchers without being tied to a specific campus. It will also provide greater visibility for an RIA within an Academic Unit, for researchers to access as required, and for the provision of discipline-specific advice.
