Every year in Australia, more than one million full-time workers change jobs. More than 70% of these workers are voluntary leavers – employees who are moving on to different, sometimes better, career opportunities. Prof Thomas W. Lee has extensively explored employee motivations for quitting or staying. He will present the latest research findings and offer concrete suggestions on how organisations can improve employee retention.
Tom is the Hughes M. Blake Professor of Management and Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs at the Foster School of Business, University of Washington. His primary research interests include employee loyalty, retention and turnover, and work motivation. Tom has published over eighty academic articles, authored a book on qualitative research methods, and won numerous research awards. He has served as Editor of the Academy of Management Journal and as President of the Academy of Management, and currently serves on the editorial board at the Journal of Applied Psychology. Tom is a Fellow of the Academy of Management and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
