CRC SAAFE

UniSA has lead the establishment of the Cooperative Research Centre for Solving Antimicrobial Resistance in Agribusiness, Food and Environments (CRC SAAFE). Located within the Future Industries Institute, CRC SAAFE is partnering with more than 70 companies and research institutes to tackle antimicrobial resistance, which is a potential threat to our safe food and water supply.

With $150 million in both cash and in-kind contributions, CRC SAAFE will spend the next decade working on how to develop shared solutions to monitor, manage and mitigate the spread of resistance to antibiotics, antifungals and antivirals that, if not addressed, could wipe up to $283 billion from the Australian economy by 2050.

MinEx CRC

As part of the MinEx CRC and together with industry, UniSA is addressing crucial challenges facing the mineral resources sector that currently contributes ~11% of Australia’s GDP annually.

MinEx CRC is focused on developing innovative exploration tools designed to discover the next generation of mineral deposits and enhance Australia’s position as a global leader in mineral resources technology.

With $220M of cash and in-kind funding MinEx CRC is the world’s largest mineral exploration research collaboration.  MinEx brings together 47 Partners from various groups across the mineral resources sector including:

• Major mining companies
• Junior explorers
• METS suppliers
• Geological Surveys
• Leading research organisations

The breadth and depth of these collaborations, across the resources technology supply chain, enables MinEx CRC to drive new technologies from concept to market.

RACE for 2030 CRC

UniSA is one of the lead partners within the RACE for 2030 CRC which has an investment of $350m, including technology companies, governments, and many of Australia’s leading energy researchers.

Working on projects that are focussed on reducing energy costs, cutting carbon emissions and increasing customer load flexibility and reliability of renewables in the grid, UniSA researchers are working on projects that aim to improve the energy productivity of cold chain logistics.

Trailblazer

UniSA is one of three universities and 23 industry partners tasked with building a sovereign space industry for Australia, involving rockets and launch facilities, rapid satellite manufacturing, communication technologies and integrated sensing systems.

iLAUNCH hub, supported through the Trailblazer Universities Program, is led by the University of Southern Queensland (USQ). Together with the Australian National University (ANU) and UniSA, the hub and its industry partners will drive the commercialisation of space research in Australia.

Teaming up with manufacturing specialists Amaero, SMR Australia and Defence Science Technology Group (DSTG), UniSA will develop the next generation of 3D printed materials to build compact optical systems for satellites.
