Queer Visions

Building on the success of Dr Kim Munro’s Documentary Film Society’s (2023 - ) ongoing screenings and conversations around experimental nonfiction, documentary and artist moving image, and Dr Stuart Richards and Dr Jess Pacella’s Adelaide Queer Film Festival (2023 - ), this series of events explores queer community-building through screenings and conversation. Taking the form of an ‘expanded-festival’, each of the three events revolves around a different queer film theme and includes short experimental films, rare gems, commissioned writing and image-making, a spotlight on curation and a variety of modes of conversation and discussion.

This series of events is designed to create an ongoing conversation about queer screen culture in an accessible and inclusive space. In drawing from a range of contemporary perspectives and subjectivities, we aim to broaden screening practices beyond the normative remit of traditional film festivals and broader visual culture practices.

Supported by UniSA Justice and Society and the Network for Studies in Gender, Sexualities and Equity (NSGSE) Event Funding Scheme.
