On 23 and 24 October 2024, the ACCP engaged in a series of events celebrating 20 years of driving change to better prevent and respond to child abuse and neglect through generating research evidence and creating new policy and practice solutions.
We thank our many partners and collaborators across Australia and internationally who have joined us on our mission to improve the lives of vulnerable children and their families, and we look forward to continuing to work together in partnership.
The Centre celebrated its 20th birthday at the University of South Australia’s Museum of Discovery (MOD.) with current and former staff, students, friends of the Centre, and sector leaders. The evening included a bespoke tour of the Museum’s current exhibition, aligning it to a reimagined approach to supporting vulnerable children and families, and a special video message from the Hon Amanda Rishworth MP, Minister for Social Services. Guests included the Hon Katrine Hildyard MP, Minister for Child Protection; former ACCP Directors and Advisory Board Chairs; Professor Joanne Cys, Provost and Chief Academic Officer, UniSA; the University Chancellor, and members of the University Council.
Our Welcome to Kaurna Country was delivered by Ella Taylor, with her father Robert on didgeridoo. Musician and Nukunu woman Tilly Tjala Thomas provided a relaxed musical ambience and performed her song Ngana Nyunyi, an ode to her father's method of teaching Nukunu language to his children.
