The University has long been engaged in the education and employment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This commitment was pioneered by our antecedent institutions and continues on in our commitment to be the University of Choice for Aboriginal peoples in South Australia and beyond.
In 2014, we were the first university in South Australia to launch our own Reconciliation Action Plan. This Plan, led by the commitment of the University’s Senior Management Group, offers a real opportunity for us to deepen the respect and relationships between Aboriginal peoples and the University community. It is a framework for cultural change that supports other projects to deliver better opportunities and outcomes for Aboriginal staff and students.
As a part of the University’s commitment to the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) strategies, Aboriginal People are eligible to apply for UniSA ‘Internal Only’ positions which are identified on the UniSA Vacancies webpage
Among our core principles is a commitment to both excellence and equity, founded on the belief that true equity can only be achieved by enabling greater access to high quality opportunities.
The University’s strategic vision reaffirms our commitment to Aboriginal peoples. We are committed to improved graduate outcomes in a range of professions where Aboriginal peoples are currently under-represented, and to increasing the representation of Aboriginal peoples in both academic and professional staff roles.
UniSA is recognised for our enduring work in gender equity and for fostering inclusive workplace culture. We are deeply committed to developing a diverse workforce and an enterprising culture in which talented people thrive. We continually seek ideas and learning from other creative organisations that we can build on to attract and develop highly motivated and creative people who together shape our University of Enterprise.
We've committed to improving the diversity of our people right across our University, encompassing all disciplines and teams.
In September 2019, UniSA achieved Athena SWAN Bronze accreditation from Science in Australia Gender Equity (SAGE). This reflects our commitment to ensure that diversity pervades all that we do, as part of our Inspired Partnered Excellence Strategic Plan for Research and Innovation. While SAGE has primarily focused on the STEMM disciplines, at UniSA we are taking a whole of University approach, reflecting our enterprise mindset and our commitment to developing the diversity of all our people.
