Associate Professor Colin Hall presented some of the key challenges in the application of additively manufactured parts to industry. Often 3D printed parts do not meet the specification required by the end user and some form of post processing is necessary. There are a range of options, which include chemical, electrical, mechanical and laser polishing, electrical discharge machining, diamond point turning and coating. The correct choice of post processing will be determined by many factors.
