Aim

Outcomes

Associate Professor Wei Qian, Dr Sanjaya Kuruppu and Professor Carol Tilt have partnered with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and its ASEAN and South Asia Regional hubs to launch their collaborative research project - Sustainability Reporting in Four Indo-Pacific Countries: Assessment of Quality and Contextual Influences on May 12. This collaborative research project analyzed and assessed sustainability reporting practice by listed companies in four Indo-pacific countries (Indonesia, the Philippines, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka), focusing on four important social and environmental issues that are prominent in the Indo-Pacific region: (1) Employee benefits and well-being, (2) Diversity & equity, on social grounds, (3) Actions on climate change, and (4) Responsible consumption and waste reduction, on environmental grounds. This collaborative event will contribute to the much needed understanding of the impact of contextual features in individual developing countries, such as forms of regulation and promotion of specific reporting frameworks, on corporate sustainability reporting behaviour.
