Antimicrobial resistance is one of the most serious challenges facing our society today. According to the World Health Organization, unless urgent action is taken, we are in danger of entering a post-antibiotic era where no treatment options would be available for infections caused by antimicrobial-resistant pathogens. Our work focuses on understanding and preventing the development and dissemination of antimicrobial resistance. We also work on developing new antibiotics that could reverse antimicrobial resistance and so restore the activity of our critical last resort of antibiotics.
