About this scholarship
The Scheer Science Research Grant provides encouragement and support for talented students as they embark on their Honours year or their first year of study in Master of Research or Doctor of Philosophy. Applicants should have high academic standing and a keen interest in researching an area of importance to society or making Australia a better place for future generations.
Value
$5‚000 in two installments:
- $2,500 paid after the census date for Study Period 2, and
- $2,500 paid after the census date for Study Period 5.
Eligibility
In order to be considered, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident.
- Be undertaking an eligible science related Honours program, or be in your first year of a Master of Research or Doctor of Philosophy.
- Have a full-time study load.
- Have a strong academic record (cumulative Grade Point Average of 5.0 or above, or research equivalent)
- Have the support of your Program Director, Principal Supervisor or Co-Supervisor. They must provide a letter of support in your application.
- Provide a written statement - please see the next section for more information.
Selection Criteria
You are required to provide a written statement (max. 750 words) outlining the following:
- Reasons for studying your UniSA research program and how the program supports you future aspirations
- The nature of the proposed research topic or final year Honours project and its importance to society
- Your academic achievements
- Any financial or educational disadvantage that you wish to be taken into account
- How the grant funds will be used to benefit you and your science-related research
The grant will be awarded based on academic achievement, research topic, the content of the written statement and the letter of support.
Applicants are not required to attend an interview.
