The Chris Adams UniSA Research Grant honours the life of Chris who lost his battle with the rare grade-three anaplastic astrocytoma brain tumour in November 2015. Chris’ family is now dedicated to honouring his memory and spirit through the Neurosurgical Research Foundation and the ‘Strong Enough to Live’ campaign which supports vital research to find a cure for brain cancer.
The grant will be awarded to a University of South Australia early-career research staff member (less than 10 years since PhD conferral) or Doctorate by Research or Master of Research student from any area of the University of South Australia who is contributing to brain tumour research.
The grant may be used to cover research-related travel e.g. presenting at an international conference‚ collecting data‚ collaborating with international or interstate experts‚ or any other relevant purpose outlined in the written statement.
Applicants are required to provide a letter of support from the relevant Centre Director‚ Institute Director‚ or a principal supervisor reference‚ and a written statement (maximum 1000 words) detailing:

The grant funds should be utilised within 12 months of payment. If it is not expected that the funds will be used within the timeframe‚ the reasons must be outlined in the written statement.
Recipients will be required to provide a written statement to report to the Neurosurgical Research Foundation (NRF) at the conclusion of their travel or project detailing the grant’s impact and how it supported their research
The grant will be awarded on the basis of the written statement‚ and letter of support from the relevant Centre Director‚ Institute Director or principal supervisor’s recommendation.
