The Maurice de Rohan International Scholarship will be awarded to an Australian citizen studying for a doctoral degree at the University of South Australia.
The scholarship is valued at up to $15,000 plus a travel grant of $2,500 to cover airfares for travel to the United Kingdom or United States of America.

The Maurice de Rohan International Scholarship aims to provide research degree students with an opportunity to gain an international perspective and improve their thesis through research, data collection or work with institutional or industry partners in the United Kingdom or United States of America.
Whilst overseas, the awardee will be expected to be a Maurice de Rohan International Scholar and Ambassador for UniSA and South Australia and to build research relationships with academics at the international institution.

The scholarship is only available to Australian citizens who are undertaking a research degree program at the University of South Australia.

Note: If your proposed trip has already received scholarship funding it is unlikely your application will be supported with further funding.
Applicants will need to provide a budget to indicate the cost of the travel and living expenses.
The total value of the Maurice de Rohan International Scholarship will be up to AUD$15,000 towards travel and living expenses for a maximum period of 4 to 6 months, plus a travel grant of AUD$2,500 to cover airfares to the UK or USA.

The successful applicants will be shortlisted for an interview. Applicants will need to demonstrate the ability to be the Maurice de Rohan International Scholar and be an ambassador for the University.
Travel arrangements will be made via the University's preferred travel provider.
Research degree students cannot use the length of time spent overseas as a reason for either a scholarship or candidacy extension.
The decision of the Selection Panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Applicants will need to gain the support of their Supervisor and Research Degree Coordinator (or equivalent), who can complete the required information using the Academic recommendation form.
Research degree students must arrange their own health and personal travel insurance and appropriate visas.
Use of the UniSA Travel Team for bookings is strongly recommended. Normally research degree students travelling on University approved business as part of their degree are covered for Professional Indemnity, Public Liability, Personal Accident and Travel. A research degree student whilst using an international travel grant may prolong their overseas stay to include recreational travel at their own expense. However, the research degree student must get prior written approval of their proposed recreational travel from their Supervisor, and complete part 2 of the International Travel grant application form.
Research degree students cannot use the length of time spent overseas as a reason for either a scholarship or candidacy extension.
International research degree students who are successful in receiving a travel grant are responsible for ensuring that overseas travel does not affect their Australian Visa. If unsure, students should contact the Department of Home Affairs directly.
The Maurice de Rohan International Scholar must provide a brief report describing the work undertaken to the Pro Vice Chancellor and Vice President (International and Development) and (Research and Innovation) on their return to UniSA, through the Dean of Graduate Studies.
