Project Outline:

high speed trainIn this CRC project partnered with iMOVE, Australiasian Centre for Rail Innovation, Department of Transport Victoria, and Transport for New South Wales, we are investigating how to improve the design and ergonomics of rail transport for the Australian rail transport industry.

As Australian cities grow and increase in population density, the provision of sustainable mass transit is becoming more and more important.

To encourage people to take mass transit, it needs to be designed for a comfortable travel experience designed to accommodate the customer.

Our project is mapping the Australian population through the provision of a body size (anthropometric) dataset of the entire Australian population, and necessary space requirements for ergonomics design guidance.
