About this grant
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Master of Research Grant is a pilot program to offer a grant to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander nurses and/or midwives from low-resource settings. Successful recipients will be enrolled in a Master of Research Program to undertake study as an external student at the Rosemary Bryant AO Research Centre (RBRC) in UniSA Clinical & Health Sciences.
Students can only be offered this scholarship once. Any withdrawal from the program forfeits the scholarship.
Students may be in receipt of other scholarships or grants administered by UniSA.
Eligibility and selection criteria
- Commencing Master of Research Student (nursing or midwifery).
- Full-time or part-time.
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
- Employed and qualified nurse and/or midwife.
- Ability to remotely attend (e.g. phone and/or internet) regular supervision meetings.
- The principal supervisor must be a staff member of UniSA Clinical & Health Sciences.
- At least one co-supervisor must be from outside UniSA Clinical & Health Sciences. Ideally, the inclusion of an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander supervision team member will be sought.
Value
$10,000 per year for two years
Funding of up to $10,000 will be available per annum to support travel, accommodation, conference, meals, and living expenses while attending intensive study (two weeks per year) in Adelaide. Pro-rata payments will apply for part-time enrolment

Applicants must provide:
- A written statement that outlines the research topic, anticipated expenses, and addresses the key issues that impact their local Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community (maximum 500 words).
- Written support from their employer to undertake the program, present at UniSA Clinical & Health Sciences Research Week Conference, other promotional events and attend biannual intensives in Adelaide.

The scholarship will remain open until filled.
The successful applicant of the grant will then apply for a Master of Research Program through UniSA’s Apply Online. Your Masters Program will be coded IRCH, within UniSA Clinical & Health Sciences.
