Short-term Opportunities

Make the most of your holidays

Short term study overseas

Want to study overseas but a full semester exchange doesn’t work for you? Short term programs are a great way to go abroad, earn credit for your degree, and see the world all in your semester breaks! There’s heaps of variety in where you can go and what you can do, and every short term application (excluding Study Tours) is automatically considered for a travel grant, valued at up to $500!

Short term programs can be anywhere from a few days to 8 weeks long, depending upon what you do, and generally take place in the June/July or December/January breaks. A short term program is usually worth 4.5 UniSA credits (one course). You are welcome to do more than one short term program, as long as it fits in your degree.

Exchange in 2026

Exchange in 2026 and beyond will fall under Adelaide University. If you are interested in going on exchange in 2026, please go to the Adelaide University Global Learning website. More information will be added to the Adelaide University website as it becomes available.

If you have any questions, please still direct these to UniSA Global Opportunities - see Contact Us page.

There are three main types of programs

Application deadlines

Due to the variety of programs and opportunities, there is no single deadline for a short term application. Check out the Short Term Exchange and Short Term Other Program pages for more details. As a guide, if you are applying to Short Term Exchange please apply at least three months before program begins. For Short Term Other, preferably apply two months before the program is due to begin.

You can still submit an application closer to the start date of the program, even for short term exchange programs. However, be aware that it takes time to process applications and travel grants, and we cannot guarantee a place at a partner program if you are late. Therefore, it is best to give yourself plenty of time to get ready!
