What Women Hold is a collaborative exhibition of work by artists of The Art Bus and Catherine House. This mixed-media exhibition showcases work that is personal and insightful, it is both raw and at times playful. Audiences are invited to engage with powerful true stories of women’s complex experiences of homelessness. This exhibition celebrates what women hold to feel safe, to thrive, and to be celebrated.
What Women Hold is proudly supported by The Government of South Australia, through its Adult Community Education training projects and a Community Impact Strategic Partnership with the City of Adelaide.
Catherine House provides accommodation, and support services for women with experiences of homelessness in South Australia. Through a recovery, strength-based focus, women are offered a safe, supportive environment with opportunities to achieve improved personal and economic well-being. Catherine House partnered with The Art Bus to offer women creative opportunities.
The focus of the Art Bus, which is run by Claire Harris and Miranda Harris, is co-designing long-term visual art programs in community settings to allow often marginalised voices to be heard.
While the views presented by speakers within The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre public program are their own and are not necessarily those of either the University of South Australia, or The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre, they are presented in the interest of open debate and discussion in the community and reflect our themes of: Strengthening our Democracy - Valuing our Diversity - Building our Future. The Hawke Centre reserves the right to change their program at any time without notice.
