2021 is drawing to an end.

We spent a lot of time talking about vaccines and all learned to care about ‘R numbers’; billionaires declared their desire to go to space; Prince Andrew hit the news for all the wrong reasons (again); Christian Porter sued the ABC; misinformation ran riot, and The Conversation celebrated its 10th birthday with the publication of a best-of: No, You’re Not Entitled To Your Opinion and 49 Other Essays That Got The World Talking.

Join Jane Howard, Deputy Section Editor: Arts + Culture at The Conversation and a panel of Conversation experts: Dr Alice Gorman, internationally recognised leader in the field of space archaeology (Flinders University); Professor Adrian Esterman, Chair of Biostatistics and Epidemiology (University of South Australia) and Rick Sarre, Emeritus Professor of Law and Criminal Justice (University of South Australia) as they discuss the highlights and lowlights of 2021 and take an expert punt at what 2022 will hold.

Click here to purchase No, You’re Not Entitled To Your Opinion and 49 Other Essays That Got The World Talking from Matilda Bookshop's website. If you are located in South Australia please choose Hawke Centre Events Free SA Postage as the delivery option. BOOK: NO YOU'RE NOT ENTITLED TO YOUR OPINION

Book Cover

“It’s impossible to overestimate the impact The Conversation has had on ideas and knowledge in Australia and this collection reflects that.” - Dr Norman Swan

From its early days as an unknown start-up, The Conversation has published landmark essays such as Patrick Stokes’s ‘No you're not entitled to your opinion’, which has seen the organisation become a vital part of the news media, expanding globally and published in four languages.

Contained within this ten-year anniversary collection are the essays that put The Conversation on the map: from slavery to religion, politics to protest, environment to culture, as well as timeless pieces on sex, sadness and friendship.

Including analysis of the biggest news events of recent times – the election of Donald Trump, Brexit, coronavirus and the #MeToo movement – this powerful book charts not only the course of one media organisation but also the world over the past decade.

No, You’re Not Entitled To Your Opinion and 49 other essays that got the world talking is edited by Alexandra Hansen, The Conversation. Published by Thames & Hudson.
