An evening of theatre, poetry and storytelling. ActNow’s Theatre of the Global Majority are set to take to the stage, showcasing some of their latest work. Steven Tongun will MC the evening which will include poetry reading and storytelling from Chris Best, Dysp0ra, Tailor Winston and Eva Thupi.
This event is also an opportunity to view the Sanaa: A Better World Through Creativity exhibition.
Performances from 6pm to 7.30pm.
A cash bar will be available for drink purchases.
CHRIS BEST
Chris Best has always been a writer. He finds inspiration in the nuances of personal relationships and enjoys writing about topics involved with life transitions and the complex emotions that they sometimes trigger. Transitions like grief to joy, stagnation to growth, pain to peace. He’s been known to explore topics of love and solitude, from the enrichment they can bring to life - to the void they leave when they’re misused.
DyspOra
DyspOra is an African-Australian recording artist, poet & self-proclaimed 'Sonic Activist'. The Playback 808 founder was born in South Sudan and raised in various locations across East Africa, including Kakuma refugee camp. His family migrated to Adelaide, a place where words and music became a way to break down the cultural, lingual and racial barriers accumulated throughout his nomadic experience. Known for his versatility, socio-political awareness and dynamic lyrical activism, DyspOra's sonic influence can be traced to various locations, sounds, languages and cultures across the world.
Dysp0ra was 2020 SA Young Australian of the Year Nominee.

TAILOR WINSTON
A visual artist and poet, Tailor Winston is a woman of confidence and unique words. A visual and vocal alchemist, her creations are a magical process of transformation and creation. Tailor will use dance and words on this occasion, to present to audiences her unique self.
EVA THUPI
Eva is an actress, writer, singer and radio talk show host. A talented woman from South Australia’s African Australian community, Eva will take to the stage to present to audiences her talents all wrapped up in one performance.
THEATRE OF THE GLOBAL MAJORITY
With participants from Kenya, Philippines, Iran and Bosnia, Theatre of the Global Majority will present small vignettes based on real-life moments. Led by ActNow Theatre's Associate Director Yasmin Gurreeboo, alongside local South Australian artists Valerie Berry and Mahira Hasanović, Theatre of the Global Majority focuses on crafting a fertile, exciting, and supportive environment for artists from diverse backgrounds to make work and develop skills.
