Christina Nicholas - Deputy Principal Whyalla Secondary College
Christina Nicholas is Deputy Principal of Whyalla Secondary College. She is a passionate educator and provides a positive learning environment for students so that they can develop skills for lifelong learning and the endless possibilities available to them post-school. She firmly believes that social and emotional development is an important part this and strives to ensure all of the students enjoy a promising school experience.
Christina graduated from the University of Adelaide, where she majored in English, History and Psychology. She undertook postgraduate programs in Adolescent Psychological Development, and Inclusive and Positive Education and moved to Whyalla in 2015 from Lameroo Regional Community School, where she worked with students with complex needs in Special Inclusion.
More recently she worked as a leader at Edward John Eyre High School, leading innovation in pedagogy. She closely with the SACE board to coordinate an approach to learning that caters to the individual needs of students, and celebrates differentiated teaching approaches. She collaborated with leaders and teachers to ensure flexibilities of learning and assessment is applied to subjects offered, which has seen an increase in high achievement in recent years.
