Jason White is Professor of Pharmacology and Head of the School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences at the University of South Australia. He qualified from the University of Adelaide with a BSc (Hons) and a PhD. He received post-doctoral training in pharmacology at Emory University and has subsequently held academic positions at Monash University and the University of Adelaide. Professor White joined the University of South Australia in 2010.
He has published extensively in the pharmacology of addictive drugs and in the treatment of drug and alcohol dependence, and attracted numerous research grants and contracts from National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), National Institutes for Health (NIH), government and industry. In addition to research and teaching, he has extensive experience in the treatment of people with alcohol and drug problems and in the management of clinics providing such treatment, and in the provision of expert evidence related to drug effects in civil and criminal matters. He is currently Co-Chair of the World Health Organisation’s Expert Committee on Drug Dependence.
