Peter Munn worked as an accountant for five years before undertaking social work. His social work practice includes six years as a front-line social worker and then teaching social work for over 20 years at UniSA’s Whyalla Campus. He completed his University career as Dean, Teaching and Learning and Associate Professor in Rural Health. His last position before retiring in December 2016 was to lead Centacare Catholic Country SA during a 11year period of rapid growth in rural South Australia. He is one of 12 Foundation Fellows of the Australian College of Social Work and was recognised by the Catholic Church in 2016, receiving a Papal Award for his service to Church and community by being made a Knight Commander of the Order of St Gregory the Great. Associate Professor Munn is actively involved in the Whyalla community being Chair of Whyalla Aged Care, a Justice of the Peace and is a Board Director of the Australian Association of Social Workers. In 2016 he was acknowledged by the Mayor of Whyalla, receiving the Mayoral Award for service to the community of Whyalla. Whilst mainly retired he continues to provide consultancy to a range of agencies on a part-time basis both in Whyalla and the region.
