Placing rural people at the forefront of dementia prevention strategies (The Rural/Regional ACTIVate Study) – Phase 1

About the study

Where you live can have profound impacts on your health and dementia risk. Despite this, there is limited scientific understanding of how and why dementia risk factors cluster differently in rural VS metropolitan communities. This means that current prevention strategies and interventions may not be culturally or geographically appropriate for people living outside of cities. To address this, we are seeking volunteers to participate in our research study, Re-ACTIVate, which aims to understand the links between lifestyle factors and brain health in rural populations.

What it involves

  • Attend 2 assessment visits in your local area
  • Complete a series of memory and thinking tasks
  • Answer questions about your lifestyle and health
  • Wear an activity monitor (wristwatch) for 7 days
