About the study

This study explores the use of a chatbot as a self-reflection tool during a golf putting task. Participants will interact with the chatbot at regular intervals to reflect on their performance, with the aim of improving task-specific self-efficacy (confidence in putting) and putting performance. In addition to measuring performance and confidence before and after the task, the study will gather feedback on the usability and perceived value of the chatbot. The findings may help inform the future use of digital tools to support skill development and mental performance in sport.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Participants must be 18 years or older.
  • Participants must currently have a handicap or previously obtained one.
  • Participants must be able to safely participate in a light physical putting task involving repeated strokes.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Individuals with physical injuries or conditions that would prevent safe participation in a golf putting activity.
  • Individuals with severe visual, hearing, or cognitive impairments that would interfere with interacting with the chatbot or completing digital questionnaires.

Benefits

  • Chance to win 1 of 3 $100 Drummond golf gift vouchers.

Participants may enjoy the novelty of the experience, which could increase their interest in engaging with golf more regularly. Additionally, they may gain valuable insights from the study’s findings and potentially develop a new skill in self-reflection.
