“This is more than training – I see it as a commitment to safer, more informed, and compassionate policing.” - Amanda Paton
ACCP-WA has been awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from the Western Australian Police Force in recognition of their “outstanding contribution” in developing Child Abuse Trauma-Informed Response Training.
Deputy Director Practice Amanda Paton, along with Jacqueline Le Mesurier and Holly Pearce, have been working with members from across State Crime and Police Training Practices Division over the past 18 months to develop and implement bespoke training for the WA Police Force on child abuse, child safe principles, mandatory reporting, and reportable conduct.
“We’re proud to have worked alongside WA Police to develop this child abuse and trauma-informed training program now being accessed by officers of all ranks across WA,” Ms Paton said. “Every child deserves to be seen, heard, and protected and this initiative is a powerful step in making that a reality.”
The team will work closely with police on annual updates to ensure the content incorporates the latest evidence-based material.
Assistant Commissioner State Crime Tony Longhorn APM recognised their contribution. “The dedication and commitment of your staff in imparting their expertise to the WA Police Force employees is exemplary and deeply appreciated.”
