University of South Australia and Hong Kong Baptist University launch full-time study options
Twenty years after first collaborating to deliver degree programs in Hong Kong, UniSA will mark the anniversary of its partnership with Hong Kong Baptist University by launching a suite of full time degrees.
On July 11 UniSA will hold a special event at the China Club in Hong Kong bringing together many of the more than 6500 graduates from the collaborative degree programs over the past 20 years, with key leaders including UniSA Vice Chancellor and President Professor David Lloyd, HKBU President and Vice Chancellor Professor Albert Chan, UniSA Deputy Vice Chancellor: International and Advancement, Nigel Relph and Dean of the School of Continuing Education at HKBU, Dr Simon Wong, to celebrate the enduring education partnership.
To mark the 20-year celebration UniSA and HKBU are jointly funding 20 scholarships, each worth (HK$10,000), for Hong Kong Baptist University Associate Degree students with the highest CGPA applying for admission to the UniSA programs.
UniSA Vice Chancellor Prof David Lloyd says the record shows that the relationship between UniSA and HKBU has always been innovative, collaborative and results-oriented.
“Our relationship was forged as a true international partnership - collaboration and communication continue to be the hallmarks of its enduring success,” Prof Lloyd says.
“This 20 year milestone is a happy occasion and the right time to relaunch our important partnership in Hong Kong by announcing a new suite of jointly offered full-time degree programs.
“Our teaching model, where HKBU academics are core to the teaching team, relies on strong communication and mutual understanding.
“It has worked so effectively over the years because of the respect that exists between academics and our two universities.”
The new full-time degrees on offer include the Bachelor of Business (Management); the Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting); the Bachelor of Business (Tourism and Event Management); the Bachelor of Communications and Media, and as a part time degree program, the Bachelor of Psychological Science.
Prof Chan says the new offerings will be quickly filled by the many students keen to undertake full time studies that lead to in-demand professions.
“Our partnership with UniSA has never been more important and we are delighted to be able to continue to work with them to deliver these particular degree programs in Hong Kong,” Prof Chan says.
“It has been a fruitful and successful collaboration and a great international partnership and friendship.”
