The University of South Australia Business School will soon unveil its new home at City West campus, a $5 million state-of-the-art business hub, equipped with its own simulated stock exchange trading floor.
And anyone interested in a sneak peek of the new facilities can see inside the Yungondi building at UniSA’s Open Day on Sunday August 20.
One of the first of City West’s original buildings to undergo a complete transformation, Level 1 of the Yungondi building will be the focus for all services and enquiries for UniSA’s more than 7,000 business students, will operate a concierge service for visitors to the campus, and will host thousands of executives annually for executive education training and networking events.
Marked by a unique ticker tape entrance, Level 1 of the Yungondi building will be home to the State’s first simulated financial trading room, enabling students, researchers and industry to engage with the global derivatives trading industry through market simulation programs.
The trading room is sponsored by global leader in innovative technologies for the financial sector, IRESS, in an exciting new partnership for UniSA.
IRESS Managing Director of Financial Markets for Australia and New Zealand, Kirsty Gross, says she is pleased to partner with the UniSA Business School to deliver the IRESS Trading Room.
“We’re excited to partner with the UniSA Business School to support innovation from the ground up,” Gross says.
“The new IRESS trading room is the first of its kind for an Australian business school, enabling business, community and students to engage and learn using state-of-the-art technology.

The Yungondi building will also house UniSA’s 5-star MBA, and an Executive Education Enterprise suite.
It will become home to Centre for Business Growth, which unlocks the growth potential of Australia’s small and medium enterprises, and the Ehrenberg-Bass Institute for Marketing Science, which grows global brands through evidence-based marketing.
Additionally, the Business Student Hub will provide a one-stop shop for students, from first year through to graduation, supporting students to maximise their UniSA experience and graduate outcomes.
Students, industry and government partners can also conveniently access career, alumni, mentor, and internship services through the Careers and Engagement hub.
Pro Vice Chancellor Business and Law at UniSA, Professor Marie Wilson, says the new learning and engagement spaces in the Yungondi building support the Business School’s growing reputation as a leader in Australian business education.
“The quality of business education at UniSA has been at the top of the national tables for more than 10 years, including 5-star ratings for our MBA program,” Prof Wilson says.
“We were only the second Australian University to gain the EFMD organisation’s EQUIS standard for quality in 2004 and we have retained that prestigious international endorsement by improving what we do every year.
“The update has significantly transformed the building.
“It is a highly professional space that echoes modern business environments and recreates some of the atmosphere of the corporate world.
“This inspiring and flexible environment will encourage conversation and collaboration between business students, our staff, alumni and industry.
