The University of South Australia has been awarded a five star rating for its MBA program for the fifth consecutive year by the Graduate Management Association of Australia, a track record achieved by only two other Australian universities.
UniSA Pro Vice Chancellor: Business, Professor Gerry Griffin says achieving five stars once is an achievement, but maintaining quality over many years is an indicator of a culture of excellence and innovation.
“People who choose to study an MBA are discerning and they are looking for the best education experience for their investment,” Prof Griffin says.
“They want a program that is deeply connected to industry so that their learning can be applied in their workplace and they want study options that enhance their experience of management practice in a local and global context.
“UniSA’s MBA has those attributes. We also work hard to develop strong partnerships to deliver management education in new contexts.”
He says one such example is a thriving MBA partnership forged with University College London which has partnered with UniSA to deliver a specialist MBA for the resources sector.
“That partnership has been highly successful in providing a depth of management education for staff at some of Australia’s largest oil and gas producers. This year saw the first graduates from the program.”
Director of UniSA’s MBA, Bob Gilliver says the success factors for the program are flexibility, real world learning opportunities, dedicated, quality teaching staff and opportunities to work with exciting and diverse student groups.
“We have students in the Adelaide CBD doing this degree online because they have demanding jobs and a commitment to their families so they want to ‘time shift’ they way they study,” Gilliver says.
“We also have students from as far afield as Mongolia and with the widest range of experience to bring to online classes – doctors, bankers, entrepreneurs, small business owners - all join discussions with our experienced lecturers about business management with fresh perspectives.
“Through our discussion-based teaching models, in actual and virtual classrooms, the class learns from the many different cultural and business perspectives brought to a study topic.
“Our MBA students can work on consulting team projects working with fellow students to come up with solutions for real business organisations.
“With a University of South Australia MBA you can learn in class today and apply it to your workplace tomorrow whether you are in Sydney, Beijing or Kangaroo Island,” Gilliver said.
