    Set in the extreme south-west of the European continent, Portugal is directly connected by air to half of the world, making it a gateway into Europe, Africa, and America. Portugal provides a mild climate, 3,000 hours of sunshine exposure a year, and 850km of splendid beaches.

    The biggest waves ever surfed are in Portugal! Nazaré is the go-to place for making a surfing statement, with its huge waves, which have helped champion surfer, Germany’s Sebastian Steudtner, set the world record of largest wave surfed in 2020. Nazaré is consistently featured in the World Surf League Big Wave Season.

    Highly acclaimed British author of the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling taught English in Porto, a city in Portugal's northwest back in the 1990s. During this time, she wrote the first three chapters of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, the first book in the Harry Potter series.

    Lisbon is older than Rome by four centuries. It was settled by the Phoenicians around 1200BC and is the second oldest European capital after Athens.

    According to the 2023 Global Peace Index (GPI), Portugal is one of the most peaceful countries in the world, ranking among the top 10 nations.

  • Getting there minus-thick plus-thick

    Catolica Lisbon  School of Business and Economics does not offer airport pick up. You will need to make your own way to the campus from Lisbon airport. More information on how to get to campus can be found here.

  • Accommodation minus-thick plus-thick

    Catolica Lisbon School of Business and Economics does not offer on-campus accommodation. Students will need to make their own accommodation arrangement while on exchange at Catolica Lisbon School of Business and Economics.

    International Relations Office offers assistance to find temporary and permanent accommodation in Lisbon. Login details and a list of accommodation search links will be sent to you via e-mail after you apply at Catolica. The International Relations Office will also provide individual help to find permanent accommodation upon arrival, during the Welcome Week.

  • Living costs minus-thick plus-thick

    As an exchange partner with the University of South Australia, you do not have to pay tuition fees to Catolica Lisbon School of Business and Economics, instead you will pay tuition as you would normally at UniSA. Travel and living expenses are at your own cost. The table below gives an indication of costs you will incur:

    UniSA offers travel insurance as part of your exchange for up to 270 days (can be extended up to 365 days). For more information please see travel insurance website.

Register your travel

To participate in an exchange experience, you must register your travel with International SOS (iSOS). We will provide instructions on how to do this throughout the process. 
 
UniSA has partnered with iSOS to offer our students medical, safety and security advice, referrals, emotional support and routine and emergency assistance when travelling or living abroad.
