WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management is an internationally oriented and privately financed business school. Since its establishment in 1984, WHU has proved itself a paragon of future-oriented research and teaching in business administration. WHU currently hosts approximately 1,400 students and around 120 exchange students from 200 partner universities all over the world. WHU is double crowned with AACSB and EQUIS accreditation.  

WHU operates on two campuses across Germany, Vallendar campus and Düsseldorf campus. Düsseldorf campus delivers executive education while the Vallendar campus delivers all other offerings including undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The campuses are 1.5 hours away from each other. 

The WHU student initiative VIP (Vallendar Integration Program) supports the International Office by organizing trips and events during the welcome week, as well as throughout the semester. Among others, VIP organizes various teambuilding activities, barbecues, and pub crawls. 

Vallendar

Situated on the right bank of the Rhine, Vallendar lies at the heart of one of the most beautiful and ancient cultural landscapes, the Upper Middle Rhine Valley. It is approximately a 2-hour journey from Düsseldorf Airport to Vallendar by train.

Düsseldorf

Renowned for its fashion and trade fairs, Düsseldorf is the seventh most populated city in Germany located in the North Rhine-Westphalia. The WHU Campus Düsseldorf is approximately a 30 minutes by train from Düsseldorf Airport.

Germany, officially the Federal Republic of Germany, is a country in Central and Western Europe, bordering Denmark, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Netherlands. It’s an ideal hub for European travel.

Germany was a founding member of the EU, co-founder of the Eurozone and is part of the Schengen Area. The country is also a member of the UN, G7, G20, OECD and NATO. With a population of over 83 million people, Germany is the largest country in the EU and a world power.

Germany is a top tourist location. Outside of German stereotypes of beer, bread, and Oktoberfest, you’ll find that there's more to the country than meets the eye. The capital city of Berlin, is a centre for culture. Art, film and music flourish here from the mainstream to the most underground, and you could spend years trying to see everything in this one city. The country is surprisingly cheap, and both in-country and international travel is affordable for students. With the exception of Poland and the Czech Republic, the cost of living in all of its neighbouring countries is higher, with people in Switzerland paying roughly 50% more for the same things!

Germany has great infrastructure, a reputation for punctuality and is well connected in every area. Diverse locations such as the Baltic Sea, Black Forest, the Rhine, Ruhr Valley and Harz Mountains are just a quick and quiet train trip away. Germany also has the luxury of being one of the safest countries in the world, competing with Norway. If you are not a seasoned traveller, or if this is your first time outside of Australia, Germany is a good choice for you.

Did you know?

The Frankfurt Book Fair is the world’s largest trade fair for books based on both the number of visitors and publishing companies that participate. Berlin is 9 times bigger than Paris, has more bridges than Venice, and is said to have more waterways than Amsterdam, Stockholm and Venice combined.

Vallendar Campus: Undergraduate and Postgraduate exchange. 

Düsseldorf Campus: MBA exchange only. 

Due to the different campus locations and program structures, graduate exchange students can no longer mix MSc and MBA courses.

• Minimum Age: 24 years  
• Completion of a minimum of 9 units in your MBA program at UniSA 
• A minimum GPA of 4 or above 
• A minimum of two years relevant work experience 

• UniSA academic transcript 
• Passport 
• Evidence of English/German proficiency 

Credits are measured by the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).

Due to the workload at this partner, we recommend that 24 ECTS – 30 ECTS equal 18 UniSA units, and 20 – 22.5 ECTS equal 13.5 UniSA units. Credit equivalencies can be decided on a case to case basis in conjunction with the Program Director and Regional Officer. 

UniSA undergraduate and postgraduate students (except for MBA) are not required to provide evidence of English proficiency. 
  
MBA students that are non-native English speakers will need to have completed or are currently studying in a university degree program taught and examined entirely in English.

WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management does not offer airport pick up. You can fly in to Frankfurt Airport, Cologne Bonn Airport or Düsseldorf International Airport and make your own way to the campus.

Vallendar Campus 

Students studying at the Vallendar campus can apply for on-campus housing at the time of completing the exchange application. The WHU Housing Office will be in contact once your application has been processed. 

Housing is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, ranging from studios and one-bedroom apartments to bigger apartments and rooms in shared flats. The monthly rent will be between €425 and €650, depending on the housing option. More information on accommodation can be found here. 

Düsseldorf Campus 

Only off-campus accommodation is available for those studying at the Düsseldorf campus. WHU housing office can assist you in finding accommodation, however it is your responsibility to finalise your own accommodation. Private apartments vary in price and are between €400 and €600 depending on the equipment, size, and district. Electricity, heating, water, etc. are usually not included in the monthly rent and are paid separately. Please keep in mind that a deposit of up to three months’ rent may be required. All exchange students studying at the Düsseldorf campus will receive a free travel pass for the NRW state, allowing for free travel to cities within the state (e.g., Cologne) and within Düsseldorf. 

As an exchange partner with the University of South Australia, you do not have to pay tuition fees to WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management, instead you will pay tuition as you would normally at UniSA.
