The University of South Australia is the only South Australian university to offer undergraduate students a specialisation in Counselling and Interpersonal Skills.
Offered within the Bachelor of Psychological Science, the program covers diverse areas including psychology, counselling, mental health, and social services. The Counselling and Interpersonal Skills specialisation includes courses that will further develop interpersonal skills for working with individuals, groups and communities. Students in this specialisation are also able to complete the prerequisite and knowledge courses for further study in psychology.

The University of South Australia also offers a Cognitive Neuroscience specialisation within the Bachelor of Psychological Science. Cognitive Neuroscience is the study of the relationship between the brain and behaviour and this exciting program integrates biology and psychology, giving students a unique opportunity to explore the neural underpinnings of cognition and the impact of social and developmental factors. Students learn and practice their skills in custom built, state-of-the-art facilities, including a cognitive neuroscience lab.
The Bachelor of Psychological Science provides students with an understanding of the theoretical basis of psychology, critical and analytical thinking skills, and data management skills, in order to be critical consumers and producers of research. Recent changes to the program have enhanced the work-readiness of graduates, and have been recognised nationally in the form of an award from the Australian Federal Government Office of Teaching and Learning.
