Education and Teaching Programs at the University of South Australia

English Language Packaging

Students have the opportunity to package their teaching program with our Centre for English Language (CELUSA) to improve their English proficiency. Students do not need to re-sit the IELTS test after their CELUSA training – once they have met the required English level they go straight into their Teaching program.

Professional Experience

Students participate in field-based placements where they can combine theory with practical experience. Students gain industry experience and have the opportunity to network with prospective employers.

Programs

Bachelor of Education

 A four-year program with a choice of three specialisations – Early Childhood, Primary, or Primary and Middle. Students in this program learn about child development, programming, research, assessment, effective communication, and relationship building.

Master of Teaching

 A two-year program for students who already have a recognised undergraduate degree, providing the opportunity to gain a teaching qualification in one of three areas – Early Childhood, Primary, or Secondary. Students in this program study core Education Studies, Curriculum and Pedagogy, and Professional Experience.

Master of Education (TESOL)

A two-year program for students with any undergraduate degree who would like to work in English as an Additional Language (EAL) settings. Two pathways are available – Education Project or Education Thesis. Applicants who have qualifications in Education and/or Linguistics may be eligible for advanced standing.
