The Department of Home Affairs (HA) have launched an education campaign to inform students about their responsibility to comply with visa condition 8516 which requires students to continue to satisfy the requirements for grant of their student visa. This means students who are granted a visa under Streamlined Visa Processing (SVP) must remain enrolled in a SVP eligible course (or package of courses) with an eligible education provider or apply for another student visa. This is equally applicable to students changing to a course in a different education sector (e.g. Bachelor to Certificate III).
HA have contacted existing students who they have identified are in breach of this condition. In some cases, students have been told by HA they need to apply for their new student visa offshore.
Please communicate this important information to your prospective students.
