Biography

Gareth Evans delivering the 2003 Annual Hawke LectureGareth Evans, Foreign Minister from 1988 to 1996, was a Cabinet Minister in the Hawke and Keating Governments for thirteen years. Since January 2000 he has been Brussels-based President and CEO of the International Crisis Group, an independent, non-profit, multinational organisation, with over 90 staff members on five continents, working through field-based analysis and high-level advocacy to prevent and resolve deadly conflict.
