Janine Mohamed

Janine Mohamed is a proud Narrunga Kaurna woman from South Australia. Over the past 20 years, she has worked in nursing, management, project management, and workforce and health policy in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health sector. Many of these years have been spent in the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Sector at state, national and international levels, most recently as the CEO at the Congress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nurses and Midwives (CATSINaM). Internationally, Janine has been a delegate at the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues on two occasions. She is now based in Melbourne where she is the Chief Executive Officer of the Lowitja Institute. Janine was awarded a 2019 Atlantic Fellows for Social Equity Fellowship and, in January 2020, she was awarded a Doctorate of Nursing honoris causa by Edith Cowan University. Janine was also a recipient of University of South Australia Alumni award in 2016.
