About Us

The Department of Rural Health is a multidisciplinary team of academics and professional staff. 

Our role is to promote and support rural placement activity within South Australia. Domestic students enrolled in health programs at University who undertake clinical placements in a rural or remote area of the State are supported in a variety of ways to ensure that they have a positive educational experience. These include participation in interdisciplinary health education activities, community clinical support and cultural experiences, as well as accommodation and travel assistance. 

The Department of Rural Health supports nursing and allied health students within the following disiplines Nursing, Midwifery, Pharmacy, Laboratory Science, Food and Nutrition, Exercise Physiology, Occupational Therapy, Medical Radiation, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Speech Pathology, Social Work & Psychology.

The Department of Rural Health is actively engaged in rural workforce research and health workforce support and development in rural and remote South Australia.
