PARTICIPANTS WANTED
Please note: this study now requires only those participants with NO knee pain, specifically;
- Females 65-71 years of age
- Males 66-77 years of age
For exploring relationship between the nervous system, pain system, physical activity, and painful knee osteoarthritis
You may be eligible if you:
- Are over 55 years of age
- Have knee osteoarthritis (OA); have morning knee stiffness of < 30 minutes and have joint pain
- Have had painful knee OA for at least 6 months
- Do not have rheumatoid arthritis or inflammatory arthritis
- Do not have a history of epilepsy or stroke
- Do not have metal implants in the skull or implanted medical devices (i.e., pacemaker).
You may be eligible if you:

Participation involves:
2 Sessions (~2 hours each) separated by 7 days, at Adelaide University (Helen Mayo South Building, Frome Rd)
Undergo pain modulation and nervous system tests using established Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) techniques
Wear a physical activity monitor between session 1 and 2
You will receive your own personal health data and a $30/session reimbursement for your time at the end of the study.
