Research participants for blood pressure research study wanted

The Cognitive Ageing and Impairment Neuroscience laboratory (CAIN) from the University of South Australia needs volunteers for a research project investigating blood pressure fluctuations and memory performance in older adults.

Are you:

  • Aged 60-80 years
  • A proficient English speaker
  • A non-smoker
  • Free from heart disease
  • Free from sleep-disorders
  • Happy to have your blood pressure monitored?

What does the project involve?

Participation in this study will last for 7 days and will involve 3 visits at the UniSA Magill Campus:

  • Visit 1 (2 hours): brief medical questionnaire, completion of series of memory tests
  • Wearing an ambulatory blood pressure monitor for 1 day
  • Visit 2 (1.5 – 2 hours): ultrasound of the brain’s blood vessels
  • Recording your own blood pressure at home for 6 days
  • Visit 3 (5 minutes): returning of equipment

All tests are non-invasive. Participants will receive honorariums totalling $80 in the form of a gift cards across the study ($40 visit 1, $20 visit 2, $20 visit 3).
