New Arrival Youth Speak Learning at School and Beyond

Associate Professor Sue Nichols

New Arrival Youth SpeakThis project aims to provide schools and educators a foundation to work with recently arrived refugee students studying in secondary schools in metropolitan Adelaide order to strengthen their literacy, English language and intercultural capabilities. It will provide insights into the experiences and perceptions of these students regarding their literacy development, language(s) practices and learning needs.

The project is funded by the Multicultural Education and Languages Committee under the Smolicz Award scheme and is a partnership with the Adelaide Secondary School of English. The project team consists of Sue Nichols (lead), Reiko Yoshida, David Caldwell and Nick Ghan (RA).
