About this scholarship

UniSA Education Futures' Timely Submissions Scholarships for 2019 provide funding of $500.00 per week for up to eight weeks during the period September to November 2019.  They are directed towards research degree students who are in the final stages of writing up their thesis to allow students to spend uninterrupted time (up to eight weeks) to complete and submit their thesis for examination on or before the 31st December 2019.

The scholarships are only for students who are within their candidature time and who will submit their thesis within candidature time (< 4.0 years) on or before the end of December 2019.

The scholarships are limited in number and applications must be submitted by the closing date. The panel will not consider applications from research degree students who are over-time in their candidature, who will not submit their thesis for examination within candidature, or who will submit after 31st December 2019.

The scholarship will be paid during the period September to November 2019.

 

Value

$500.00 per week up to a maximum of eight weeks within the period September to November 2019 inclusive. The thesis must be submitted for examination by 31st December 2019 and no extension is possible. 

Eligibility

Open to UniSA Education Futures HDR domestic and international students only. Students must be within candidature and able to submit thesis for examination within candidature and before the end of December 2019.

Research degree students must:

  • Currently be enrolled at UniSA in either a doctoral degree by research or a master of research within UniSA Education Futures
  • have completed their data collection or equivalent
  • be in the writing-up stage
  • be within their candidature time
  • be able to submit their thesis for examination within candidature on or before the 31st December 2019

AND

  • if part-time, or working, provide evidence that time release is available to work on the writing-up on a full-time basis
  • not be a continuing UniSA academic staff member.

How to apply and closing date

Written applications should be sent to the UniSA Education Futures Research Office email: EASResearchStudents@unisa.edu.au          

  • Your application should be made in writing, within 1-2 pages, including a proposed work plan. In the work plan, address how your thesis will be completed within 8-12 weeks of commencing the scholarship and submitted for examination before the 31st December 2019.
  • You must obtain the support of your Principal Supervisor for the application who should provide a statement in support of your application. The supervisor statement must include a commitment to being available for the timely provision of feedback to support thesis submission, and support for the feasibility of submission by 31st December 2019.
  • The application is also to include an objective report of progress by the Research Degree Coordinator confirming that a timely thesis submission is achievable.
  • Your application will be considered by the Dean of Research for selection of successful candidates.

Application closing date: Applications open from 19/07/2019 to 5/8/2019

Assessment of your application

Assessment of your application will be based on the:

  • Quality of the application
  • Supervisor and Research Degree Coordinator comments
  • Work plan and the likelihood of the thesis being completed within the nominated timeframe

 

Conditions of the scholarship

  • Successful applicants will be required to enrol, and remain enrolled on a full-time or part-time basis at UniSA.
  •  Leave of absence will not be available during the duration of the Timely Submission Scholarship, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
  •  During the period of the scholarship, progress will be monitored on a regular basis, in accordance with milestones outlined in the work plan.
  •  Failure to make satisfactory progress in line with the above milestones may mean the cessation of the scholarship payments.
  •  Submission of the thesis for examination, with supervisor's approval, is required at the completion of the scholarship.
