About Us

Roger Eston, PVC - Health Sciences

As Pro Vice Chancellor: Health Sciences, I extend a warm welcome to you.

Home to all of the University's Health Research and incorporating the schools of Health SciencesNursing & Midwifery and Pharmacy & Medical Sciences, the Division of Health Sciences has an outstanding reputation amongst industry, government and community for the education of health professionals and delivery of research excellence in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of health issues.

We collaborate with our partners to ensure our innovative research and consultancy is conducted with a focus on applied knowledge in key areas of health, feeding into the University’s Research themes of CancerHealthy Futures and An Age Friendly World. Indeed, in the 2018 Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) results, fields of research are rated at 'well above world standard' (ERA 5) in Nursing, Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Human Movement and Sports Science, Nutrition and Dietetics, Biochemistry and Cell Biology, and Medical Physiology. Clinical Sciences research is rated as 'above world standard' (ERA 4) and Public Health and Health Services research rated 'at world standard' (ERA 3).

We place a strong emphasis on practice-based learning, with significant investment in teaching and research facilities, including the Cancer Research Institute in South Australia’s health and biomedical precinct. Our students gain valuable hands-on experience, learning within modern purpose-built laboratories and on-campus clinics that service the community. It’s therefore no surprise that results from the QILT Graduate Outcomes Survey 2016-18 ranked UniSA number one for overall graduate employment in health services and support; nursing; and rehabilitation. Nursing and Exercise and Sport Science are also listed in the Top 100 2019 QS World University Rankings by Subject.

Drawing on world-class skills, knowledge and facilities, we celebrate our successes and invite business, industry and government to explore valuable opportunities for collaboration, discovery, progress and innovation.
