When Helen McLean was in the midst of her Master of Business Administration (MBA) at UniSA, a lecturer had a life changing impact on her. Recognising her intelligence and potential before she did, he gave her the resolve to reach goals she never knew could be achieved. Now, Helen has taken this important lesson to advocate for the many talented women in her own life. None more so than Kelly Stevens, who she has known for more than two decades and is now mentoring with new fundraising initiative, Charlie’s Rainbow. Education graduate, Jeannine Malcolm is using her passion for sustainability through a different avenue with the establishment of Mobius Farms, the first organic insect bioconversion facility in South Australia working to fight food waste in the state. Curated by Sanaa: A Better World Through Creativity, co-presented and sponsored by The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre and supported by Principal Partner LK, Sanaa Exhibition returns to the Kerry Packer Civic Gallery in 2022. Exploring the theme of Home, the Sanaa Exhibition features contemporary Australian based artists from Aboriginal, African, Iranian, Colombian and Brazilian backgrounds alongside international artists from India, Senegal, Kenya and South Africa.
Presented by The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre, in arrangement with WOMADelaide Festival’s Planet Talks Program, Dr Richard Denniss outlines how all the big challenges of the 21st century, from climate change to the impact of big tech on our democracy, will require more government spending, regulation and, most importantly, more creativity in thinking about the role of Government. Dr Denniss, Author and Chief Economist at The Australia Institute, will be in-conversation with social commentator Jane Caro AM.
Two prominent Aboriginal thought leaders will join UniSA as part of a new Visiting Research Fellowship scheme. Curator, artist and activist, Djon Mundine OAM FAHA, and author, researcher and arts critic, Dr Tyson Yunkaporta were named the inaugural Pirku murititya UniSA Visiting Research Fellows – a donor co-sponsored program. In this yarn, facilitated by UniSA’s Pro Vice Chancellor: Aboriginal Leadership and Strategy, Professor Irene Watson, the Pirku murititya UniSA Visiting Research Fellows will share their wealth of experience and expertise in their respective fields.
