Conference Session Descriptions

ASERA 52 is designed to optimise constructive discussion about research in science education. In 2021 there will be three formats for presentations: Papers, Posters and symposium. Papers will also be able to be presented either face-to-face or online for those who cannot attend the conference. Symposium and posters are best face to face

Paper Presentation Sessions
Oral paper presentation sessions, both face-to-face and online, will be allocated 40 minutes. This comprises 20 minutes for the paper presentation time and 20 minutes for questions and discussion time. Participants seeking to lead a paper presentation need to be able to engage the audience in 20 minutes of critical, but positive, conversation between researcher and audience. Please ask audience members to provide their email address if they want a copy of your paper so you can distribute it electronically after the presentation.

Poster Presentations
There will be an allocated session for poster presentations. All posters will be on display in this dedicated area. Researchers should prepare a poster (A0= 841mm x 1189mm, or A1= 594mm x 841mm) that details the research (questions, methodology, analysis and results) and a short introduction to the key ideas of the research.

Symposium sessions
A symposium provides an opportunity to present research on one topic, often from multiple perspectives, providing a coherent set of three or four papers  and a discussant in an hour and a half session. For the symposium, the organiser needs to prepare and submit: a short overview abstract up to 100 words, with the extended summaries of the  three /four individual presentations making up the symposium. The extended summary of each presentation has to follow the same rules as the  Single paper

We look forward to seeing you there!
