Nine hours in and unijam is in full swing!

So far nearly 4,500 people from 50 countries have registered to be part of unijam and the ideas are coming thick and fast.

Since we started jamming at 10am this morning we’ve had more than 5700 comments across 550 conversations – that is an awesome figure.

We have welcomed VIP politician jammers including Premier Jay Weatherill, Opposition Leader Steven Marshall and The Hon Susan Close Minister for Education and Child Development Minister for Higher Education and Skills.

Hot topics have included what it takes to develop public intellectuals, how to improve staff and student connections, the best ways to transition to university and how we can develop closer links between our researchers and end users.

And our students have come up with some gems including greening our City East campus, powering Mawson Lakes with solar energy, more campus connectors and online study options.

And for those who need a few more numbers to digest, more than a third of our post contributors so far have been under the age of 40.

Because sleep is overrated, we are going to be online all night - including our Vice Chancellor David Lloyd, who will be hosting a conversation with UK Chief Scientist, Professor Anthony Finkelstein about international research collaboration and industry engagement at 4am (ACST).

If you need some sleep you can always check back in tomorrow anytime until 4pm (ACST) with sessions including online and regional education, transforming the PhD, reducing red tape and more broadly, the higher education landscape.
