How your application will be assessed?

All applications submitted to the University of South Australia for admission into a research degree undergo an eligibility and quality assessment.

Receiving the outcome of your application 

The assessment process includes a number of steps and involves a number of staff across the University, and applications usually take between 6-8 weeks to review and process. We will notify you by email as soon as the outcome of your application is finalised.

Applying for the annual RTP scholarship round

If you apply for our annual RTP scholarship round, we’ll let you know the outcome of your application between 8 to 12 weeks from the scholarship closing date.

How do I accept my offer?

  • Domestic Students minus-thick plus-thick

    Follow these steps to accept your offer:

    1. Complete and return the acceptance form contained within the offer letter to research.degrees@unisa.edu.au
    2. Meet any conditions of offer as outlined in the offer letter

    Additional documents required to meet the conditions of offer are:

    • Evidence of Citizenship (birth certificate, citizenship papers or a copy of the essential text from a current passport)
    • Evidence of SA Residency (only applies to some scholarships, please refer to your offer letter)
    • Certified copies of your overseas academic documents to be posted or hand-delivered to Graduate Research Admissions, Student Academic Services
  • International Students minus-thick plus-thick

    Follow these steps to accept your offer:

    1. Complete and return the acceptance form contained within the offer letter to research.degrees@unisa.edu.au
    2. Meet any conditions of offer as outlined in the offer letter

    Scholarship awardees

    You need to provide evidence of your SA Residency upon your arrival.

    Sponsored students

    If you are being externally sponsored for your studies, send your official sponsorship documentation from your sponsoring organisation and accept your offer. Sponsorship documentation must be on official letterhead addressed to UniSA, and must include:

    • The student’s full name
    • The program or programs for which the sponsorship is approved
    • The duration of the sponsorship
    • Whether Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) is paid for
    Self-funded students

    If you are self-funding your studies, organise your first payment as outlined in your offer, including tuition and Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHSC), and submit proof of payment to research.degrees@unisa.edu.au

    • Certified copies of your overseas academic documents to be posted or hand-delivered to Graduate Research Admissions, Student and Academic Services. 
    • Once you have accepted your offer and met all conditions, you will be issued with Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE). Use your CoE to apply for your student visa. For more information on how to apply for a student visa, please visit: https://international.unisa.edu.au/how-to-apply/student-visa-information/
    • After you receive your visa please notify the Graduate Research Admissions team via research.degrees@unisa.edu.au of your arrival date, so we can process your enrolment. 

Commencing Research Degree Students 

Once you are enrolled in the admitted program prior to the agreed commencement date, Graduate Research Admissions team will notify you of your student identification number, university email account and other important information via email.
