Research in the School of Creative Industries explores the creative, cultural and artistic complexities of our world and their increasing significance for community engagement, quality of life, jobs, income, regional and urban regeneration and policy development.

Our research is interconnected, innovative and engaged with real-world partners, and it delivers findings, creative outputs and impacts of national and international significance.

Our researchers are world-class – we are number one in South Australia for research in cultural studies, linguistics, and journalism and professional writing, and our research in sociology is recognised as world-class. 1

Central to our research is a concern with societal transformation, and addressing the social problems we face in an increasingly global and culturally diverse world.

We are deeply committed to producing a research environment of the highest quality and to that end we foster a dynamic and supportive research culture for staff, higher degree students, and industry partners alike. Our research activities are diverse, and include:

  • creative work
  • language and cultural diversity
  • mediated environments
  • societal and cultural transformations

Our research is closely aligned with the university’s research themes of Transforming Societies, Transforming Industries, An Age Friendly World, and Healthy Futures.
