Based at UniSA’s Mawson Lakes Campus, just 16km from Adelaide CBD, the Planetarium offers visitors the unique opportunity to stargaze without having to brave the elements.
Journey across the universe and marvel at projections of the Sun, Moon, planets and about 5000 stars in the Planetarium’s iconic dome-shaped artificial night sky, without leaving the comfort of your seat. Be careful not to lose yourself as the projections simulate the Earth’s rotation and sends you on a voyage through outer space.
The Planetarium is open all year round for families big or small, offering a range of activities for the whole family to enjoy. Whether you are a school group, a family or an astronomy buff, we have something to interest you.
Journey into outer space with a highly qualified guide. Find out more about the solar system, stars and constellations, including indigenous and traditional star lore and mythology.
We offer a range of special courses for those with an interest in astronomy. Courses range from beginner to advanced levels.
Keep an eye out for special events throughout the year, including during school holidays and the festival season.
The Planetarium is open by appointment only, except for advertised public sessions. The Planetarium holds Saturday Sessions every first, third and fourth Saturday of the month. During school holidays, there are additional activities that run throughout the week. Bookings are essential for all activities.
