About Us

University of South Australia Department of Rural Health is a multidisciplinary team of academics and professional staff. 

Our role is to promote and support rural placement activity within South Australia. Domestic students enrolled in health programs at UniSA who undertake clinical placements in a rural or remote area of the State are supported in a variety of ways to ensure that they have a positive educational experience. These include participation in interdisciplinary health education activities, community clinical support and cultural experiences, as well as accommodation and travel assistance. 

University of South Australia Department of Rural Health supports health students within the following Units:

  • UniSA Clinical and Health Sciences (Nursing, Midwifery, Pharmacy, Laboratory Science, Food and Nutrition)
  • UniSA Allied Health and Human Performance (Exercise Physiology, Occupational Therapy, Medical Radiation, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Speech Pathology)
  • UniSA Justice & Society (Social Work, Psychology)

University of South Australia Department of Rural Health is actively engaged in rural workforce research and health workforce support and development in rural and remote South Australia. 

We are administratively located within UniSA Allied Health and Human Performance.
