Recognising the power of soft diplomacy through international education, the Australian Government allocates significant funding to support Australian students in taking up international opportunities. While the focus is on our region, the opportunities range more widely. There are also scholarships for students from a large number of countries to take up opportunities at Australian universities. Some other countries have similar schemes. For an outline of funding available and links to further information please view the tables below.
Please note: UniSA has become aware of a series of scams relating to admissions and scholarships. Organisations not aligned with or endorsed by UniSA are asking prospective students to pay a fee to make an application. UniSA scholarships do not require any application fees. Please contact us if you are asked to make an application or payment in this way.

On September 24, 2021, Quad partners Australia, India, Japan, and the United States announced the Quad Fellowship: a scholarship program designed to build ties among the next generation of scientists and technologists across the Quad partner nations. Schmidt Futures, a philanthropic initiative, will operate and administer the fellowship program in consultation with a non-governmental taskforce, comprised of academic, foreign policy, and private sector leaders from each Quad country.
The Fellowship program will sponsor 100 American, Japanese, Australian, and Indian master’s and doctoral students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to study in the United States. The Fellowships will develop a network of science and technology experts and will build a foundational understanding among Quad Scholars of one another’s societies and cultures through cohort-wide trips and robust programming with each country’s top scientists, technologists, and politicians.
Each Quad Fellow will receive a one-time award of $50,000 (USD) which can be used for tuition, research, fees, books, room and board, and related academic expenses (e.g., registration fees, research-related travel). All Quad Fellows are eligible to apply for separate demonstrated needs-based funding of up to $25,000 to cover costs related to completing graduate-level studies.
